Thomson Pink Wool Scarf

Thomson is among the most widely carried of Scottish names. Meaning “son of Thom”, it has roots in the Highlands, where it is an anglicised form of MacTavish and MacThomas, and in separate Lowland and Borders traditions. In Edinburgh, the Reverend John Thomson of Duddingston, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1814, painted the loch and hills from a studio in what is now called Thomson’s Tower. The family’s tartan has been woven in many colourways, among them a camel version recorded in 1967 as a colour variation on the usual blue Thompson. Thomson Pink gives the same pattern a soft, rosy voice.

This scarf is crafted from 100% pure extra fine lambswool in a Scottish mill with 250 years of heritage. A gentle pink ground is crossed by fine lines of black, white and red, and the check settles across the cloth with a calm, even rhythm.
