Description
Among the Thomsons, few have shaped a city as Alexander "Greek" Thomson shaped Glasgow. Born at Balfron in Stirlingshire in 1817, he became the great architect of Victorian Glasgow and earned his nickname from buildings drawn from Greek and Egyptian models. His St Vincent Street Church of 1859 still stands in the city, and Holmwood House in Cathcart is now cared for by the National Trust for Scotland. The Thomson Navy tartan sets bands of navy and white with fine lines of red and gold. It is Scottish heritage in its most classical form.
Handcrafted from 100% pure cashmere at a 250 year old heritage mill, this scarf is made in a smaller size. The navy and white bands sit close together, with the red and gold lines bright against the dark ground.
Thirty-five steps make up the work of each scarf, and the last is done by hand. Teasels are passed lightly over the cashmere, drawing up the fibres to an extra soft finish. It is a scarf for brisk mornings and long walks, easy to wear and made to last.
