Description

Thomson is among the oldest and most widely carried of Scottish names. Meaning “son of Thom”, it spread across the Lowlands and the Borders before reaching Edinburgh, where the family grew closely tied to the village of Duddingston, and it gave the country its well-loved saying, “We’re all Jock Tamson’s bairns”. The Thomson Camel is a twentieth-century tartan that threads fine lines of red, black and white through a warm, sandy camel ground. It is a heritage pattern worn with a light hand.

This scarf is crafted from 100% pure extra fine lambswool in a Scottish mill more than 250 years old. The camel shades glow with a soft, honeyed richness, and the check sits across the cloth with calm precision, the slender lines of red, black and white adding depth without ever raising their voice. It pairs easily with navy, charcoal, oatmeal and deep green.

Twenty-nine stages of finishing bring each piece to its final form, and the last is the most traditional: the lambswool is brushed by hand with teasels, which lift the fibres into a cloud-like softness. The result is a scarf of unhurried luxury, light in the hand and gentle in warmth, its fringed ends adding a graceful finish, made to be reached for in every season and cherished for years to come.
