The Stewarts were the royal house of Scotland from 1371, when Robert II took the throne, until the death of Queen Anne in 1714. Their Royal Stewart tartan is one of the most recognised in the world, and Black Stewart sets the same pattern against a deep black ground, with accents of red and green. Recorded around 1830, it has long been worn by pipe bands, including the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. It is Scottish heritage in its most regal form.
This scarf is handcrafted from 100% pure cashmere at a 250 year old heritage mill. The black ground and flashes of red make a bold but refined contrast.
From start to finish, each scarf passes through 35 steps. The most traditional touch comes last: teasels are worked over the surface by hand, giving the cashmere an extra soft finish. The result is a scarf with real warmth and a plush, comforting feel, made to be worn often.
