Small Campbell Ancient Wool Scarf

Campbell is a great name of Argyll. The clan’s roots there run back to a marriage to the heiress of the O’Duines, which brought the Lordship of Loch Awe, and Colin Campbell was made Earl of Argyll in 1457, a title that later became a dukedom. The chief is styled Mac Cailein Mòr, “Son of Colin the Great”, and the seat remains Inveraray Castle, whose present mansion dates from 1743. The clan’s motto, “Ne Obliviscaris”, means “Forget Not”. The Ancient Campbell tartan is the plain Campbell pattern in blue, green and black, woven in lighter and brighter shades, and the chief’s family once advised that Campbells without a branch tartan of their own should wear it.

This scarf is crafted from 100% pure extra fine lambswool in a Scottish mill with 250 years of heritage. Soft blue and fresh green meet narrow lines of black, bright and clear like Loch Awe in morning light, and the check repeats with a calm, even rhythm. It brings an easy lift to cream shirts, stone chinos or a sage-toned jacket.

Twenty-nine patient stages shape each scarf, and the last is the most traditional: the lambswool is brushed by hand with teasels, which raise the fibres into a gossamer-soft finish.
