Small Bannockbane Wool Scarf

Bannockbane belongs to a newer chapter of Scotland’s long tartan story. Until the early nineteenth century, tartan was worn according to taste and availability, and from the late eighteenth century Wilsons of Bannockburn began naming civilian tartans after towns, regions and notable people. Bannockbane carries on that spirit of free choice. Created as a trade pattern in the early 1970s, its name is invented rather than inherited from any one family or place, so it belongs to anyone with a liking for it. The Navy colourway presents the pattern in a deep, fashion-led blue.

This scarf is crafted from 100% pure extra fine lambswool in a Scottish mill with 250 years of heritage. Deep navy forms the heart of the cloth, lit by fine lines of white and red with a warm accent, and the check unfolds with a clean, steady rhythm. It pairs easily with a cream shirt, grey marl knitwear or khaki chinos.

Twenty-nine considered stages bring each scarf to its final form, and the last is the most traditional: the lambswool is brushed by hand with teasels, which lift the fibres into a delicate, cloud-soft finish.
