Our Scottish mill, in business for well over 250 years, handcrafts this scarf in extra fine pure lambswool. In the iconic check, red and camel interlace in an even, orderly pattern, neither colour overpowering the other. Wear it with an aubergine jumper, fold it into the lapels of a dark overcoat, or throw it over a simple knit dress with boots. The fringe frames each end with a gentle ripple.

It passes through 29 carefully managed steps. Teasels are then drawn across the cloth by hand, raising the fibres into a finish that is soft, warm and quietly luxurious. Rich yet easy, it is a scarf to live in, and to keep returning to.
