Our Scottish mill, more than two and a half centuries old, weaves this scarf from extra fine pure lambswool. The iconic check is rendered in soft, even tones, each line sitting cleanly against the next. Try it with a grey wool coat, knotted loosely over a dark denim shirt, or looped beneath a camel overcoat. Its fringed ends add a light, playful flick.

Behind it lie 29 steps of patient work, from dyeing the yarn to the last finishing touch. Each scarf is brushed by hand with teasels, which raises the fibres to a finish that is gentle from the very first wear. Light on the shoulders and long on life, it is made to be reached for again and again.
