MacKellar Scottish Wool Scarf

MacKellar is a name with deep Highland roots. It comes from the Gaelic Mac Ealair, “son of Ealair”, and it is linked with Angus, where the family is said to have held its first seat, and with Argyll, where the main family settled from the thirteenth century before spreading across Scotland and overseas. The family’s motto, “Perseverando”, means “persevering”. The MacKellar tartan is recorded from 1964, a pattern that carries the family’s long story into a refined modern check.

This scarf is crafted from 100% pure extra fine lambswool in a Scottish mill with 250 years of heritage. Green leads the pattern, joined by fine lines of white, soft yellow, black and blue, and the check unfolds with a lively yet orderly rhythm. It pairs easily with a navy knit, khaki trousers or a white shirt.

Twenty-nine careful stages bring each scarf to completion, and the last is the most traditional: the lambswool is brushed by hand with teasels, which lift the fibres into a soft, downy finish.
