Gordon Wool Scarf

Gordon is a name that travelled the length of Scotland. It comes from the barony of Gordon in the Merse of Berwickshire, held by the family from the twelfth century, and in time the Gordons were granted lands at Strathbogie in Aberdeenshire, where their stronghold became known as Huntly. Alexander Seton became the first Earl of Huntly in 1449 and took the name Gordon, and the clan’s motto, “Bydand”, means “abiding”. The Gordon tartan is based on the pattern of the 92nd Regiment, raised in 1794 as the Gordon Highlanders by the 4th Duke of Gordon, and the Gordon Dress versions lighten that handsome pattern for more celebratory dress.

This scarf is crafted from 100% pure extra fine lambswool in a Scottish mill with 250 years of heritage. Blue, green and navy meet in a close, balanced check, with fine lines of white and yellow adding a gentle lift, and the pattern settles across the cloth with a calm, even rhythm. It pairs easily with a white tee, olive chinos or a grey blazer.

Twenty-nine measured stages bring each scarf to completion, and the last is the most traditional: the lambswool is brushed by hand with teasels, which lift the fibres into a soft, cloud-light finish. The result is a scarf of understated luxury, light in the hand and gentle in warmth, its fringed ends adding a graceful finish, made to be worn on any occasion and treasured for years to come.
