Dark Red Check Wool Scarf

Dark red lends our iconic check a sense of occasion: rich, dignified and quietly dramatic. Edinburgh Cashmere is a Scottish heritage brand, and the check is the pattern we return to with the greatest pride.

We handcraft this scarf in extra fine pure lambswool at a heritage mill in Scotland, now 250 years old. The iconic check is woven with exacting care, its lines distinct and its deep red saturated from edge to edge. Set it against a stone-coloured mac, pair it with a black polo neck for the evening, or add it to a bottle-green gilet for a note of richness.

Making it involves 29 steps, taking the wool through dyeing and weaving before it is washed and finished. Teasels bring the process to a close, brushed across the cloth by hand in a traditional method that opens up the fibres to an extra-soft finish. Rich in colour and gentle to wear, it is made to be worn often and kept for life.
