Black Watch Cashmere Scarf

The Black Watch takes its name from six companies of Highlanders raised in 1725 to keep order in the glens after the Jacobite rising of 1715. Their dark tartan stood apart from the scarlet coats of the regular army, and the name followed. In 1739 the companies became a regiment, later numbered the 42nd, and its blue, green and black check has been worn ever since. Known as the Government tartan, it is open to everyone. It is Scottish heritage in its most disciplined form.

Handcrafted from 100% pure cashmere at a 250 year old heritage mill, this scarf weaves deep blues and greens against black, giving the check a dark, composed richness.

Each scarf is brought to completion in 35 steps, and the last is made by hand. Teasels are drawn gently over the cashmere to lift the fibres to an extra soft finish. It is a scarf of generous softness and dependable warmth, and one that grows more valued with every wearing.
