Bannockbane Silver Wool Scarf

Bannockbane belongs to a newer chapter of Scotland’s long tartan story. From the late eighteenth century, Wilsons of Bannockburn named civilian tartans after towns, regions and notable people, and Bannockbane carries on that spirit of free choice. Created as a trade pattern in the early 1970s, it takes an invented name rather than a family one, and it is open to anyone who loves it. The Silver colourway sets cool grey against deep navy, a soft, modern reading of a Scottish check.

This scarf is crafted from 100% pure extra fine lambswool in a Scottish mill with 250 years of heritage. Soft silver grey meets deep navy in a clean, balanced check, the lighter tone catching the eye while the darker one gives the cloth its depth. It brings a polished finish to a linen shirt, a favourite jumper or a sharply cut jacket.

Twenty-nine careful stages of finishing complete each piece, and the last is the most traditional: the lambswool is brushed by hand with teasels, which lift the fibres into a downy softness.
