DESCRIPTION
The MacLeods of Harris take their name from an island they once held. Early in the sixteenth century Alasdair Crotach MacLeod, the eighth chief, built St Clement's Church at Rodel on Harris. He was laid to rest there in 1547 in a carved tomb he had made for himself, and the church has been called the grandest medieval building in the Western Isles. He also added the Fairy Tower to the family's seat at Dunvegan on Skye. The tartan appears here in the Ancient colourway, with mossy greens and pale sky blues. It is Scottish heritage in its most timeless form.
Handcrafted from 100% pure cashmere at a 250 year old heritage mill, this scarf is made in a smaller size. The Ancient tones are light and airy, with the greens and blues softened to something gentle.
Each scarf is shaped over 35 steps, and the last of them is done by hand. Teasels are brushed across the cashmere to lift the fibres to an extra soft finish. The result is light, cosy and easy to wear, and it will look well for many winters.
