This solid brown scarf from Edinburgh Cashmere, a Scottish heritage brand, is made from pure extra fine cashmere in a rich, even brown that feels grounded and quietly warm. It pairs naturally with cream, navy, olive and denim, and sits comfortably alongside leather, tweed and suede.

A mill with more than two and a half centuries of manufacturing behind it weaves the cloth smooth and supple, and dyes it evenly so the colour reads clean from end to end. Wrap it close, drape it long or knot it loosely; the soft tone keeps the look relaxed and unforced.

Thirty-five steps go into every scarf, including dyeing, weaving, washing and finishing. A last gentle hand-brushing with teasels, a traditional technique, lifts the fibres to a soft, plush finish. It is a scarf in a colour you will not tire of, made to be worn for years.
