Sustainability at Edinburgh Cashmere
We’re combining historical craft with new technologies to become more sustainable and reduce our impacts. Our sustainability strategy is based on the LVMH Life 360 programme, which sets precise environmental targets for 2023, 2026 and 2030.
Products and materials
We source only high-quality materials, guided by principles of traceability, fair conditions for farmers, animal welfare, and biodiversity protection. All our suppliers are required to adhere to the LVMH Supplier Code of Conduct, which promotes fair, socially responsible, and environmentally sustainable practices. At the same time, we are steadily increasing the use of certified, organic, and innovative materials throughout our products.
Leather is at the root of our craft. Since 2013, Edinburgh Cashmere has been a member of the Leather Working Group, an international organisation that promotes responsible leather practices. As of 2024, 99% of our leather comes from certified tanneries. Beyond sourcing, we are committed to minimizing our environmental impact. In 2021, we launched the Surplus Project, transforming leftover leather from past collections into iconic bags including the Flamenco Surplus or Woven Basket. And in 2023 we opened our first ReCraft stores in Japan, where a full-time leather artisan repairs and maintains Edinburgh Cashmere leather items.
